Outdoor Motion Capture for Cricket: Apple Arts Studios’ Innovative Setup at IIT Goa

  At Apple Arts Studios , we’re constantly exploring new ways to push the boundaries of motion capture technology. One of our most exciting projects took us outdoors , where we set up a mobile OptiTrack PrimeX 22 system on the cricket ground at IIT Goa in partnership with Quidich Innovation Labs . The mission: to capture the lightning-fast movement of a cricket ball with pinpoint accuracy. ⚙️ The Outdoor Setup Unlike the controlled environment of a studio, outdoor mocap presents unique challenges. For this project, our team built a full-scale motion capture pipeline on the cricket field. Rigging began at 5 PM every evening. Calibration was completed by 5:30 PM . Recording sessions ran until midnight under floodlights.
